Lake Effect was started in the fall of 2010 to bring the activity of Drum and Bugle Corps back to Erie, PA. We are a marching ensemble who play brass instruments, drumline, front ensemble(pit), and color guard. We perform a field show that includes exciting music and great drill. Our staff is top of the line with personal expierence in the activity. Our goal is to promote the growth of music education and appreciation through various perfomances and social activities

What is Lake Effect’s goal for the 2012 season?

Our goal for the season will be to put a show on the field with great music and put it to motion. Our goal is to field 24-34 Brass, 13 drumline, 10 pit, and 8-16 colorguard. Every position is open to audition to all prospective members. We are hoping to get into 2 local parades and 4-5 DCA sanctioned show with maybe a local standstill performance.

Does Lake Effect compete?

Yes, we will be competing in DCA (Drum Corps Associate) which is an all-age circuit that only competes on the weekends. This is open primarily from the ages of 14+ and you do not age out!

When does Lake Effect rehearse, compete, and do they travel?

Lake Effect will hold all winter camps (Dec-March) in Erie, PA. Once we get outside in May, we may take a trip to Ohio for a “get-away” weekend to bond as a corps and to rehearse in a great facility. Lake Effect will compete all across the East Coast in the DCA Circuit. These shows start in June and go up to Labor Day weekend where our Finals performance will be in Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, MD. When traveling, the corps will take buses to take members who do not wish to carpool to the competitions.

What is the cost of Lake Effect to be a member?

Currently, our tuition cost is set at $300 per member. This fee is used to cover staffing, music arrangements, uniforms, equipment, DCA circuit fees, group insurance, copyright fees for music, and transportation costs of equipment. Tuition Fees can be paid in a payment plan if needed and could be paid at every rehearsal a little at a time. Any hotels or transportation is at your cost.

What is the winter schedule for Lake Effect?

Our goal is to have a good balance of rehearsals and time for school, studies, and sports during the winter and spring. By having one rehearsal a month, we will not interfere with school activities. Our Summer schedule will be every weekend Saturday and Sunday from May to August to work on our field show and to perform in front of thousands of spectators.
